Job Summary

Flagship Facility Services is seeking Life Science Facilities Technician II to join our dynamic and growing Lab Services division.

Job Description

Summary 

This role performs a variety of facility/building activities in service of our client operationsThis role will work directly with our customers and provide outstanding client service. This role directly manages and coordinators servicing from third party, repairs and maintenance of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Construction needs.

Essential Functions 

  • Manages and/or performs grounds keeping activities including, but not limited to snow removal (grounds, halls, loading docks, etc.)  

  • Manages and coordinates third party quotes, repairs and service maintenance. Responds to client and/or tenant requests for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, wastewater and construction needs.  

  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly specific maintenance tasks and/or inspections related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression and life safety systems.  

  • Maintains records and inputs all work orders in client work order system(s) 

  • Frequent professional verbal, written, and digital communication with customers and colleagues  

  • Able to solve issues on a regular basis, with minimal negative consequence. May still need assistance from most experienced team members or resources. 

  • Demonstrates leadership when working with others 

  • Maintains a clean and organized work environmentEnsures that the property is kept to Class A standards 

  • Reports and escalates on unsafe or potentially unsafe work conditions, and develops solutions to address such scenarios. 

  • Able to respond to chemical spills and hazards. 

  • Work with vendors to complete tasks 

  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations and corporate policies/procedures related to building operations and work safety. 

  • Other tasks as directed. 

 

Requirements 

  • High School diploma or equivalency required 

  • Mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing trade license and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a directly related field; OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field with demonstrated advancement. 

  • Demonstrated experience working with customers or POCs, building a healthy working relationship to achieve objectives and solve problems 

  • Able to self-schedule on routine tasks and identify potential issues 

  • Identifies issues and implements methods of improvement 

  • Able to self-report on assigned and routine tasks.  

  • Familiar with a variety of facilities support tasks and demonstrates an understanding of most facilities workflows and system such as a BMS and work order system, to effect and achieve desired outcomes. 

  • Familiar with basic operation of lab equipment. Familiar with the intermediate operation and maintenance routines of HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical equipment. Usually possess basic troubleshooting knowledge. 

  • Basic understanding of, and the safe handling and general maintenance surrounding cryo and cold storage. 

  • Intermediate understanding of laboratory facilities routines and how their workflows affect other departments, especially those downstream of their research workflows.  

  • Experienced in knowing how much stock inventory is needed and how to procure parts if needed  

  • General understanding of the safe handling surrounding common chemicals and their hazards.  

  • OSHA 10, HAZWOPER  

  • Strong time management and task management abilities 

  • Able to effectively complete tasks and work independently with minimal supervision 

 

Work Environment 

  • Small-to-large office environment. 

  • Fast paced work environment. 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments. 

  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and noise.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to perform the following repetitive movements: stand, walk, sit, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders) and trash and the ability to safely use equipment provided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Climb a ladder to perform repairs.
