Global Supply Chain (GSC) Research and Development (R&D) Engineering Services provides Operations and Facilities Management and Capital Projects delivery for Technical R&D sites within GSC’s Engineering and EHS organization.
This role will provide subject matter expertise to projects, programs, and services within the technical service line to deliver the R&D lab experience, quality, and safety objectives. This will include the development and improvement of processes that support the operational delivery model and interfaces with other GSK functions, service partners and other 3rd party providers.
The purpose of this role is to support the consistent delivery of technical services for the Upper Providence and Upper Merion R&D facilities. This role will ensure alignment to the local needs and priorities of the business, and to ensure that cost, quality, and compliance metrics are achieved by key contract partners. The incumbent will be responsible for regional compliance to external licensing and statutory requirements for engineering services provided by R&D Engineering Services as applicable.

Provide third party management support for the R&D technical service partners including:
Delivery of R&D lab experience, quality, and safety objectives.
Evaluation of contract change proposals for alignment to contract statement of work (SoW) and level of effort assessment.
Evaluation of supplier training compliance and periodic role specific curriculum evaluation.
Management of annual specialist supplier PO’s for approved values, invoice review and approvals with GOA.
Delivery of site services. Participate in GEMBAs, evaluate risks, ensure quality, implement services and standards, and contribute to the overall site performance.
Management of Fieldglass for specialist scientific service partner resources.
Act as primary liaison between R&D technical services and R&D Engineering Services, enabling insight into lab specific priorities and challenges. Partner with service partners on assessing new scope requests/improvements (new TLS support needs for example), including remediation plans from standard gap assessments, audit findings, CAPAs, etc.
Drive best practices regarding Quality and Safety in labs, meeting all regulatory and procedural requirements.
Act as first line of escalation for operations issues within scientific services, driving issues to resolution or determining need for upward escalation.
Liaise with GSK quality and EHS functions to ensure good communication on expectations and ways of working.
Deploy compliance processes locally and identify/escalate operational risks to governance teams.
Identify and implement improvements, design changes or modifications to support the business in following established change control processes.
Manage the technical services activities and verify, through management monitoring, that the site is a safe place to work, compliant with national, local and GSK standards, and “Inspection Ready.”
Maintain ethics and compliance values even when potential risk exists.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related field
5+ years of experience supporting lab operations at a manufacturing or research facility
1+ years of experience leading people or matrix teams
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Displays knowledge of the Research & Development process and understands GxP requirements
Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts
Acts as a role model for applying standards to ensure compliance
Demonstrates familiarity with the use of a computerized maintenance management system for work order planning/scheduling, spare parts/inventory management and asset master data tracking
Demonstrates ability to work in a heavily matrixed environment
Experience with scientific services and lab operations (gas management, hazardous waste, buffer preparation, HPLC operations, etc.)
Excellent oral and communication skills
Excellent project management skills
