Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Senior Principal Financial Analyst with an Inventory, Materials or Cost Accounting background, and a Capital/Fixed Asset background to support our team of talented and diverse individuals at our Chandler, AZ location.

In this role, the selected candidate will:

  • Reporting and analysis of company stocked inventory and work in process – complete ownership of the process. Including monthly journal entries, reconciliations, research and problem solving.

  • Costpoint materials system subject matter expert. Provide guidance on all inventory and materials questions as related to proper accounting and posting within the system.

  • Provide inventory risk information to management on a regular basis

  • Work closely with Global Supply Chain, Planning, and Materials Managers to analyze and reduce inventory balances

  • Working with FP&A on accounting for Capital Projects and related reporting

  • Responsible for other complex balance sheet reconciliations and cost management.

  • Prepares and post journal entries

  • Assists with month end close activities and responds to questions/issues from internal/external auditors and business units.

  • Provides charging guidance, where necessary, and helps ensure that GAAP, FAR, and CAS are being applied consistently and correctly.

  • Assists with creating new processes and procedures.

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Inventory asset accounting

  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Heavy Excel data analysis

  • Costpoint (ERP) POC for the financial and accounting impacts of material transactions

  • Adjusting Journal Entry and Month End Support

  • Audit support

  • Procedure Writing and Process Creation

  • Other projects as assigned


This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field - OR - Master's Degree with 6 years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Familiarity with inventory and cost accounting

  • Microsoft Excel – advanced formulas, data mining, and reporting

  • Strong communication and collaboration ability

  • Ability to create new processes and write procedures

  • Strong, effective communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • C.P.A. or C.M.A

  • Cost Accounting Experience

  • Government Accounting Experience

  • Costpoint experience

  • SharePoint Knowledge

  • Technical Experience with Software and Data Management

Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $142,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
