What is the opportunity?

The RBC Enterprise Architecture group is seeking a Senior Architect for Data & AI. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will help shape the implementation of Enterprise Architecture products, Key Enterprise Data & AI platforms and applications that consume these.

The role will initially focus on establishing our Data Hub Platform from an Enterprise Architecture perspective. This includes ensuring: EA governance requirements are baked in, design consideration for data architecture/hydration/access/controls/discovery etc and that the hub is AI/Agentic ready.  For this, the role will partner with our Enterprise Data & AI Platform group and Central Data Office.

This role will provide Enterprise Architecture Technical Leadership and Governance for strategic AI and Data initiatives. Will be a key partner in establishing our AI, Agent and Data Hub platforms. Will collaborate with business stakeholders, technology leadership, platform teams, and development groups.

This role will help to ensure key applications and initiatives align with our technology reference model, reference architectures/patterns and best practices. As part of this we need to apply our well architected framework and AI automation for governance

Needs to have a strong grasp of both AI and Data technologies and their application in an enterprise, whilst ensuring suitable architecture patterns are established for the organization. Needs to have hands on experience and a passion for diving deep, whilst staying on top of the latest internal/external trends and innovation.  Needs to have a delivery mindset, be opinionated and driven and have the ability to balance competing asks.

What will you do?

Provides Enterprise Architecture Input and Governance for key AI and Data platforms and initiatives across the bank.  Initially specialise on establishing our Data Hub Platform Be an expert on AI and Data technology and opinionated on their implementation. Evangelize adoption of industry-leading practices Ensure key applications and project align with our technology reference model, strategic platforms, patterns and best practices. Ensure strong governance process. Automate governance activities with AI. Ensure governance frameworks balance innovation with risk management Collaborate with Data, Security, Application, Cloud Architecture, and Infrastructure specialists to ensure architectures align with RBC standards, policies, and best practices Champion EA solutions to key governance bodies, including the Architecture Review Board, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy Design and execute select Data, AI, Agentic initiatives that align with EA governance strategies. Consider security, reliability, and observability that deliver enterprise-grade performance Lead select technical implementation and POCs . Contribute to whitepapers, points of view and internal community engagement

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

• 5-10+ years AI and/or Data technology experience. 5-10+ years of architecture experience designing and implementing solutions on enterprise projects
• Hands-on technical proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps practices, and AWS Well Architected Framework (WAF)
• Expertise in data architecture, AI/ML architecture patterns, security design, resilient systems architecture, enterprise integration, and application development
• Hands on development experience. Strong hands-on technical engagement, designing and supporting proof-of-concepts, guiding development teams, and translating architectural vision into implementation
• Expertise in enterprise-scale Data and AI architecture, with demonstrated success delivering production solutions that drive measurable business value
• In-depth knowledge of contemporary Data and AI implementation patterns, including emerging agentic AI frameworks and generative AI capabilities
• Track record of conducting proof-of-concepts and pilot programs that validate new technologies and accelerate enterprise capability adoption
• Demonstrated ability to lead, cross-functional technical teams while defining, influencing, and driving technical direction that aligns with business strategy
• Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships. Demonstrated influence across organizational boundaries

Nice to Have

• Enterprise architecture experience / Solution architecture experience
• Background in financial services industry, demonstrating understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and fintech solutions
• Consulting experience with track record of designing complex technology transformations and enterprise architecture strategies
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks and their practical application in production environments
• Proven capability to evaluate opportunities and influence project decisions from an enterprise architecture perspective, ensuring alignment with EA strategy and execution roadmap
