Position Summary: 
The Lead Director of F5 Load Balancing Engineering is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-level load balancing solutions. This role will lead a team of engineers, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of F5 Load Balancer environments across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of F5 technologies (LTM, GTM, APM, ASM), experience with multi-tier application delivery systems, and be skilled in directing large-scale infrastructure projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the strategic vision for the organization’s F5 Load Balancing architecture, aligning with broader IT and business objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, ensuring professional development and high performance in maintaining and improving the F5 infrastructure.
  • Architecture Design: Design and manage the global F5 load balancing architecture, ensuring redundancy, scalability, and optimized performance across all environments.
  • F5 Product Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge of F5 BIG-IP modules such as LTM, GTM, APM, ASM, AFM, and iRules to design effective and secure solutions.
  • Project Management: Lead complex load balancing projects, from requirements gathering and technical design to execution and support, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Collaboration: Partner with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of F5 solutions into the larger infrastructure.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Oversee the resolution of escalated load balancing issues, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption, while driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all load balancing solutions meet the necessary security standards and compliance requirements, especially in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare).
  • Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in F5 and load balancing technologies and recommend new solutions or improvements to existing systems. Drive automation within the load balancer space. Lead the F5 and Load balancing space into streamlined processes. 


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in networking or application delivery roles, with a focus on F5 technologies.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience designing and managing enterprise-level F5 load balancing solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading and managing teams of engineers
  • Expert-level understanding of F5 technologies including LTM, GTM, APM, ASM, AFM, and iRules scripting.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and SSL.
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud load balancing (AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
