Job Description

Mechanical Design Internship (2-3 Months)

Reporting to the R&D Product Development manager we have a requirement for an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer to support the Senior Mechanical design Engineer.

Responsibilities

Support mechanical design for machined and 3D printed parts. Focus will be on two key developments as listed below.

Projects

The following two projects have been highlighted as most beneficial to the business.

Composite cutting machine

Simple automatic composite rod cutting machine. The machine is to cut multiple rods to a consistent size using a controlled cutting force and speed using and isomet blade. This has been promised to Production be we have so far been unable to provide this.

Wiper system

Both optical and pH sensors require a biofouling protection system. There is a requirement for both a bolt on and integrated wiper system. Currently Teledyne Valeport buy in a system from Zebratek. This is expensive and not quite what the market requires.
