Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking an Operations Engineer – 2/3 to become a member of the Operations Engineering Department, working as part of an integrated and globally dispersed Operations team. The position requires a flexible work schedule driven by system and operational requirements and is located at a field site in Alice Springs, Australia.
**Please note this role can be filled at either a level 2 or 3. **
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic 12-hour shifts. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
Operations Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Successfully complete and maintain an initial operator certification and progress towards advanced certification while supporting a minimum requirement of real-time operations shifts per quarter. Initial operator certification may require a multi-week TDY to attend training curriculum.
Monitor multiple complex systems and execute standard operating procedures in response to nominal and anomalous system behaviors
Perform system performance improvement tasks involving scripting and standard operating procedure modification
Support Factory design working groups in order to facilitate the transition to operations of new systems and capabilities
Utilize agile processes and tools to include but not limited to Jira, Confluence, and Git
Basic Qualifications for level 2:
Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 2 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 0 years of engineering/technical experience
Familiarity with LINUX, Perl, AGILE SW development tools
Familiarity with monitoring tools/scripts (perl, python, etc.)
Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date
Basic Qualifications for level 3:
Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 3 years of engineering/technical experience
Experience with LINUX, Perl, AGILE SW development tools
Experience with monitoring tools/scripts (perl, python, etc.)
Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access with a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph examination
Prior Mission 1 operations and/or systems engineering experience
Experience working in a geographically diverse team and matrix organization
Experience with LINUX, Perl, Python, AGILE SW development tools (e.g. Confluence, JIRA, bitbucket etc.)and CI/CD
Familiar with AI/ML tools
