The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Melbourne-based team. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Cloud Operations & FinOps, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and optimising AIA Australia’s cloud infrastructure.
This role combines deep technical expertise in Azure cloud operations with a strong focus on automation, governance, and cost optimisation through FinOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Operations & Automation
- Deliver and support operational services aligned with SLAs for AIA’s cloud-hosted solutions
- Manage lifecycle, compliance, and security of cloud services
- Automate routine tasks to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Develop and maintain scripts (KQL, PowerShell, Python) to streamline operations
- Cloud Governance & FinOps
- Support the development and enforcement of Azure policies and operational procedures
- Drive cost optimisation through tagging, budgeting, anomaly detection, and usage analysis
- Execute financial management strategies to maximise cloud value and efficiency
- Collaborate across teams to embed FinOps principles and promote cost-aware engineering
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in Azure cloud operations and cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Databricks, APIM)
- Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, KQL)
- Solid understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance frameworks
- Hands-on experience with FinOps tools, models, and practices
- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400) are highly regarded
