Welfare Operations Manager

Nesscliffe & Swynnerton

Full Time, up to 12-month fixed term contract with possible extension, 40 hours per week

Salary up to £39,900 per annum, plus, company car and fuel card or £4,500 car allowance per annum

About the Role:

We are working with our client to bring to the UK a number of families under the Afghan Resettlement and Assistance Policy. They will initially be housed in various accommodation bases, known as the transit estate, before being moved to a settled home in the community. Mears will be securing community homes over the next 6 months and some families will move to these homes, some will move to other dispersed accommodation throughout the UK.

Due to a new contract win we are seeking a Welfare Operations Manager to join our team. As a Welfare Operations Manager you will be working for a Central Government accommodation contract. You will report into the Contract Delivery Director and have Welfare Support Officers and Transport administrators reporting into you.

As a Welfare Operations Manager you will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships amongst partners within the community to solve problems and communicate needs. You will manage a team of Welfare Support Officers and support the front-line delivery to our service users who may potentially be vulnerable or have a special housing needs. The Welfare Operations Manager will ensure the delivery of an exceptional service and keeps safeguarding at the heart of the service through effective management of incidents, practice and reporting. You will be managing a field based team.

Role Criteria:

  • Commutable distance from home to at least one of the base locations
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding
  • Experience working within a welfare background
  • Operational management experience
  • People management
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour and/or mental health
  • Full UK driving license
  • Resilient, trustworthy, motivational and supportive
  • IT literate
  • Ability to complete intensive reports
  • Subcontracting management would be desirable
