Job Description:

As part of the Competitive Intelligence Team, the Market Research Analyst will provide financial results on a quarterly and annually to support the evaluation of market and peer data for business decisions and will develop competitor and industry financial activities analysis for the Head of Investor Relations and Global Market Intelligence Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Actively involved with consolidating, analyzing, and synthesizing large amount of financial and non-financial information from competitors and Manulife Financial.
  • Deliver competitor earnings release benchmarking reports accurately and on a timely basis (T+2)
  • Analyze and summarize financial, operational, and strategic information developed by third parties (brokers and research analysts) about the industry and the company.
  • Conduct competitor intelligence research that can provide insights into the financial strategy of the firm.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external benchmarks related to financial and stock performance
  • Review and analyze financial statements and earnings reports in accordance with IFRS and GAAP standards.
  • Generate reports and leverage PowerBI and Alteryx for data analysis.
  • Provide organizational, analytical, and logistical assistance for investor-related reports.
  • Improve and re-engineer reporting processes and deliverables to create consistency and efficiency during quarterly earnings results periods.
  • Initiating improvements by exploring, identifying, and implementing reporting, analysis, and process solutions
  • Works closely with the business unit and teammates to ensure a smooth reporting production cycle, assisting in ad hoc requests as needed 
  • Provides support to the Team Leader for administrative reports and will also represent the team in management meetings on behalf of the Team Leader as needed

Qualificati

  • Bachelor's degree holder
  • 3-4 years of market research experience
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards IFRS and US GAAP is an advantage
  • Strong financial analysis skills with a solid understanding of the business environment and financial reporting structure to provide value-added insights to management
  • Proactive, able to work independently, and meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills  
  • Practical problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a strong focus on teamwork
  • Ability to translate financial information and concepts into simple communications
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
