Administrative Assistant I – Center for Family Medicine

The Center for Family Medicine (CFM) is a busy outpatient teaching practice that provides a full range of primary care services to adults and children including obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics and behavioral health counseling. This center also does many office-based procedures, osteopathic manipulation and medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction. It is also home to Akron General’s Family Medicine Residency Program.  
 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00AM – 5:00PM.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform a variety of duties to support administration such as scheduling, handling phone calls, greeting customers and correspondence.  

  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously and effectively. 

  • Act as a liaison between internal and external customers by greeting customers and answering and triaging phone calls. 

  • Administer calendars and schedules. 

  • Compose and prepare a variety of correspondence (e.g., reports, forms, presentation materials, messages, etc.) as required. 

  • Provide coverage of other areas such as front end, point of service and registration. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • One year of office experience.  

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products (Outlook, Word, Excel or PowerPoint). 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Two years of college or business school.  

  • Typing proficiency of 35 WPM with accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

  • A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC/word processor.
  • Normal or corrected vision.
  • Ability to tolerate extensive sitting and frequent walking to other parts of the campus.
  • Lifting or carrying of up to 25 pounds.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
