Position Summary
University Marketing & Communications is seeking an innovative content creator who is well-versed in and passionate about social media trends and technology. A member of the social media team, this position will have the opportunity to create content that tells the story of WashU – including campus life, the academic and research endeavors of students and faculty, etc.
The individual in this position will be an avid storyteller who believes that a picture or video is worth a thousand words and has a keen eye for the smallest details. This role will explore new trends and technology and requires an agile mindset that leads to action and experimentation with new mediums as they arise.
The ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines is a must.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Social Media Content Creation
- Creates engaging content for various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to explore ideas and new ways to present content in a social-friendly tone and format.
- Employs photography, videography, and basic graphic design.
- Performs post-production editing for videography and photography, as well as storyboarding and project management of visual content projects.
Social Media Content Publishing
- Assists in developing and maintaining a social media content calendar.
- Works within University Marketing & Communications processes to upload and organize raw files in server system.
Continuous Improvement
- Entrepreneurial mindset toward learning new things and exploring new opportunities for storytelling/content.
- Monitors, reviews and reports on new trends and technology.
- Instructs and trains interns to capture content that is consistent with visual brand guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$45,600.00 - $75,300.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
