At Zocdoc, you’ll lead the teams building and maintaining the developer-facing platforms, tooling, and shared services that accelerate Zocdoc’s engineering organization — owning the systems, abstractions, and workflows that directly ensure we deliver healthcare to millions of patients with speed, confidence, and reliability. As an Engineering Manager on the Platform Engineering team, you'll lead one or more teams of engineers responsible for building and maintaining the developer-facing platforms, tooling, and shared services that accelerate every engineering team at Zocdoc.

This is a high-impact role within the Infrastructure organization. You'll own the delivery, health, and performance of your teams — ensuring they consistently ship high-quality work that reduces friction, improves developer confidence, and strengthens the reliability of our platform ecosystem. Working closely with Platform Engineering leadership and cross-functional partners, you'll translate platform strategy into clear team plans and drive execution on the systems, abstractions, and workflows that power Zocdoc's engineering.

You'll also be a hands-on technical leader. You'll maintain a deep understanding of your teams' owned systems and architecture, perform code reviews on the highest-impact work, and coach engineers on effective use of modern development tools — including AI-assisted development — to drive higher velocity and quality. Your work will ensure that your teams' corner of the platform is well-built, well-adopted, and well-operated.

Your day to day is...

• Lead and cultivate high-performing Platform Engineering teams by setting unambiguous expectations and providing direct, actionable feedback that drives individual growth.
• Own the delivery of the team's roadmap, translating broad platform strategy into concrete priorities and actionable milestones that ensure consistent execution.
• Maintain deep technical involvement in system architecture, ensuring our platforms are high-quality, scalable, and fundamentally aligned with evolving organizational requirements.
• Perform rigorous reviews of high-impact code, utilizing these interactions as critical coaching opportunities to elevate technical excellence across the team.
• Empower teams to effectively leverage modern development tools — including AI-assisted development — to drive meaningful improvements in engineering velocity and output quality.
• Guarantee the reliability and operational health of owned systems, fostering healthy on-call practices and driving rapid incident detection and resolution.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to build alignment on platform strategy and manage complex technical dependencies.
• Actively participate in the recruitment and hiring process to build a diverse, technically strong team that consistently raises the bar.
• Proactively identify and dismantle blockers, ensuring teams remain relentlessly focused on delivering high-impact developer outcomes.
• Cultivate an inclusive team culture built on experimentation, trust, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement and technical accountability.

You'll be successful in this role if you have...

• 7+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, or Software Engineering, including 2+ years of dedicated leadership in guiding high-performing technical teams.
• Hands-on expertise in building and scaling developer platforms, CI/CD ecosystems, and shared services that fundamentally improve engineering velocity.
• A strong technical foundation in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), with a deep understanding of modern software delivery practices.
• Sound technical judgement, including the ability to guide architecture, system design, and maintain a relentlessly high bar for quality and reliability.
• Demonstrated success in coaching and developing engineers across career stages, providing the direct feedback necessary to cultivate technical excellence.
• Proven ability to translate broad strategy into actionable priorities, driving consistent team execution and maintaining a high degree of accountability.
• A deep passion for the developer experience, treating platforms and productivity tooling with a product-centric mindset to empower engineering teams.
• Comfortable navigating organizational ambiguity and adapting execution plans to ensure teams remain relentlessly focused on high-impact results.
• A clear and proactive communicator capable of building alignment and influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
