Our Purpose
At our Project Management Organization in Medtronic, we focus on deploying
project management methodologies and practices to ensure robust planning,
monitoring/controlling and execution of new projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Facilities Group is accountable directly to the Parkmore Site Director, who has overall responsibility for site operations. The Facilities Group has 5 key responsibilities: Facilities & Infrastructure, Energy Management, PMO, Soft Services (FM), and Workplace Management. A summary of each subfunction is included as follows;
- The Facilities & Infrastructure team are accountable for maintaining and sustaining the site’s infrastructure and operation, to optimum Maintenance Excellence standards.
- Co-ordination of Energy Management, utility sourcing, and alignment of site with set corporate energy and emission goals.
- The Facilities PMO is accountable for managing and executing:
- Proposed change to Layouts, Infrastructure or Services, or Controlled Environments (i.e. Cleanrooms).
- Campus Space Strategy.
- Soft Services includes for Catering, Cleaning, Non-Hazardous Waste Management, Security, Landscaping, Welfare, Facilities FM Vendor Services & Events Management.
- Workplace Management provided in support of the needs of the business, and their employees. Medtronic’s Parkmore space is managed by the Facilities PMO team, with an unbiased approach, as a finite business resource.
- The Facilities PMO fundamentally has the responsibility for planning and managing change to our site infrastructure, and space.
- The role also collaborates across the other Facilities subfunctions, supporting as necessary, in the overall deliverables of the Facilities Group.

A Day in The Life Of:
- You will be responsible for representing the Project Management Office (PMO) group on teams as the PMO representative.
- You will build cross functional project schedules from first principles.
- You will be leading project management activities (e.g., project planning, tracking, risk management, communications), lead continuous improvement projects to drive better execution of projects and drive projects/sub-projects as necessary.
- You may have responsibility for resource management activities. You will support the overall project management infrastructure (metrics, reporting, administration, business reviews etc.).
- You will contribute occasionally as leader of crisis teams chartered with getting projects back on track.
- You will participate in implementing best practice tools and techniques in project management within projects and within the Medtronic Galway site.
- You will manage changing priorities on projects through effective schedule management and deployment of PM methodologies.
- You will keep the Team Leader and key Sponsors and Stakeholders abreast of organizational capacity constraints and portfolio risks.
- You will operate as role model by striving for continuous improvement and being an agent of change.
- Weekly coordination with the Facilities & Construction PMO program of infrastructural change projects, including all new products.
- Delivery of allocated infrastructural change projects within the project constraints of time, budget, scope and quality.
- Responsibility for overall success of infrastructural change projects for the site, by oversight and integrated planning of all cross functional related activities.
- Adhering to, and managing control of, project governance in line with EHSOP13.010.
- Manages infrastructural change projects to solve problems and implement improvements with well-defined plans and delivery methodologies and is accountable for overall project process, performance, and customer (site leadership) satisfaction.
- Execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements in line with overall site strategy.
- Identify core team resources needed for individual projects and assign responsibilities.
- Motivate project core team members while ensuring they clearly understand expectations and performance. Resolve issues and ensure task completion by establishing priorities and reaching compromise with team members and functional manager.
- Ensure effective stakeholder management and establish processes for communication and escalation. Through effective information flow and interaction, develop harmonious working relations with other functional representatives within the project core teams.
- Collaborate with external construction design team, consultants, construction PM on scoping, planning and delivery of all projects.
- Support Senior Facilities Manager and site leadership in developing short, medium and long term spatial strategy plans.
- Executes daily activities, always adhering to the Facilities & Construction PMO Code of Ethics, bounded by honesty, fairness, respect, and accountability.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum Degree Level 8 in Business Management/Project Management or related discipline is essential.
- 4-7 years’ experience working in Technical Project Management environment.
- Experience with medical device design control is desirable.
- You are a dynamic team player and leader and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
