Aa an Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians while directing daily operations to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centered outpatient services. This includes managing scheduling and staffing, with the flexibility to refine processes as needed, as well as supporting bedside delivery services through close collaboration with that team. The manager will be actively engaged in projects impacting both Ohio locations and Main Campus, while also ensuring physician orders are accurately reviewed, supplies are maintained, and pharmaceutical services are delivered seamlessly.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Supervise the activities of Pharmacists and support staff assigned to the store and ensures accurate and timely preparation and processing of orders. 
  • Assume responsibility for safe and accurate handling of all funds and records. 
  • Review and interpret all physician orders for processing, rationality, dosage form, allergies, interactions, incompatibilities, etc. 
  • Advise prescribing physician of inconsistencies, recommend alternate medications and determine proper quantities to be prepared/dispensed. 
  • Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, patients and other appropriate individuals by consulting with physicians regarding all drug therapy requested 
  • Clarify physician orders and assist physicians in investigating new and alternate medications to be used. 
  • Instruct patients regarding individual mediation therapy. 
  • Enter patient and medication order information into pharmacy computers to facilitate medication dispensing. 
  • Coordinate the third-party prescription process by ensuring accuracy of information, including patient name, physician provider numbers, product name or NDC number, directions, directed daily usage and corresponding quantities. 
  • Supervise personnel functions, analyze workflow and adjust scheduling as needed. 
  • For specialty pharmacy, develop clinical documentation standards as required by URAC and other internal and external regulatory groups and customers. 
  • Develop integrated team and individual goals tied to overall specialty pharmacy goals. 
  • Adhere to direct report payroll budget and other budget areas defined by Senior Director. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire 
  • Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations for managers in Retail Pharmacy 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross for managers in Retail Pharmacy 
  • Completion of a Health-system Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residency OR Four years of pharmacy experience, including at least one year of leadership experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity sufficient to operate a personal computer in the course of the work, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking.
