Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative Advanced Mission Capabilities (AMC) Restricted Engineering team to help develop, enhance, and maintain test software on cutting-edge products and systems.
What You’ll get to Do:
Our software engineers develop and support next-generation capabilities including simulations, algorithms, test automation, and data management and analysis. You will be responsible for all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, development, and testing. Join a design community that offers unique design challenges and work closely with multiple engineering disciplines including Hardware, Firmware, Software, Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering, etc.
The ideal candidate is an effective communicator and self-driven problem solver. The employee will support the entire product lifecycle development, from design & implementation through flight test and debugging to ensure that product requirements are met. They will work closely with systems engineers, hardware design engineers, software engineers, and customers, troubleshooting and correcting root causes of various system-level issues.
Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of software-related products, software designs, and technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews, and other reviews, as required. The selected individual will actively participate in the technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. The selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required.
We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Software Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 4 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree: 0 yrs of experience with a PhD
U.S. Citizenship is required
Current DoD Active Secret Clearance
Ability to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP)
Object oriented programming and development: C, C++, C#, Python, or MATLAB
Experience with best practices in software design and continuous test integration
Familiarity with Agile methodology of software development
Preferred Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer:
Experience developing test software using C, C++, C# or Python
Experience developing test software using LabWindows/CVI or similar IDE's, such as Visual Studio
Experience with software development for Radio Frequency Target Generators
Experience implementing radar signal processing
Experience with test sequence development
Experience with modern software version control tools such as git or subversion
Experience with Atlassian tool set, such as JIRA and Confluence
Capable of effective communication in a highly technical environment
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.

Salary Range: $102,400.00 - $153,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
