The Opportunity:
An automated hardware test engineer designs, develops, and implements automated test processes for hardware components and systems. Responsibilities include writing automated test scripts using programming languages like Python or C++, using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, and debugging hardware and test setups. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, functionality, and stability of electronic devices through automated and systematic testing.
How you'll make an impact:
- Develop automated test systems: Design and implement automated testing frameworks, tools, and scripts to test hardware functionality and stability.
- Write test scripts: Create scripts to simulate user interactions or test specific hardware functions, such as those involving wireless protocols like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
- Test hardware components: Use specialized test equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers to validate hardware performance.
- Debug and troubleshoot: Investigate and debug issues found during automated testing, both in the hardware itself and in the test scripts or setup.
- Collaborate with teams: Work with software developers and other engineers to identify defects, improve product quality, and ensure test requirements are met.
- Maintain test infrastructure: Update and maintain the automated test environment as hardware and software products evolve.
- Perform regression testing: Develop and run automated regression tests to ensure new changes haven't broken existing functionality.
Your Background:
- Safety must be your number on priority
- BSc/MSc degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with power electronic converters/power supplies development process
- Experience with simulation tools (Spice, SIMetrix, Simulink, PLECS, Lab View )
- Understanding of control theory for Power Electronics applications
- Experience with specification, selection and qualification of power devices, and passive components like DC capacitors and filter components
- Experience with working with laboratory equipment, converter prototyping and testing
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines
- Is an excellent communicator with the internal R&D and external test partners
- A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
- As you will be part of a global business, fluency in written and spoken English is required
- Working with Quality processes
- Able to undertake prototype & pre-compliance testing of power converters, components and thermal systems, including HALT
- Experience working & communicating with external certification & test labs
