Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Director for Sentinel Specialty Engineering within the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems.
What You Will Get To Do:
Lead the Specialty Engineering organization within Sentinel Systems Engineering & Integration, reporting to the SE&I Integrated Product Team Lead. Responsibilities include leadership over the following areas:
- Responsibilities related to all areas within specialty engineering
- Management of specialty engineering work scope including planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Coordinate on specialty engineering topics across various integrated product teams (IPTs)
- Leadership and coordination on specialty engineering-focused internal and external stakeholder engagements (engineering review boards, customer sync meetings, formal working groups, etc.)
- Ensuring flowdown and satisfaction of requirements based on specialty engineering analyses
- Human Factors Engineering
- Responsible for Human-System integration
- Performs human suitability assessments for weapon system operations and maintenance tasks
- Nuclear Hardness and Survivability
- Provide design support related to hostile nuclear environments
- Responsible for completion of characterization and qualification testing
- Responsible for hostile environment verification & validation
- Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
- Provide oversight for E3 areas of concern including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO), and TEMPEST
- System Safety
- System and Range Safety assessment, reporting, and coordination
- Parts, Materials, and Processes
- Material assessments, specifications, and approval

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 10 years of progressive engineering experience
- Minimum of 5 years in leadership
- Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years
- Parts, Materials and Process experience
- Willing to travel up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- ICBM experience
- Prior experience interfacing with USAF leadership personnel
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
- Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
- Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
Primary Level Salary Range: $187,700.00 - $311,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
