Department Overview

The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world.


Job Description

Join our Cloud Excellence Team and help us revolutionize our Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) services! We're seeking a dynamic Software Engineer to drive the integration of cutting-edge technologies, building scalable solutions that will shape the future of our platform. You'll be at the forefront of innovation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve service offerings, enhance platform integration, and deliver on critical strategic initiatives.


Basic Requirements

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build, and maintain highly scalable backend services and APIs.

  • Architect and implement large-scale systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code, actively participating in code reviews.

  • Own the delivery of complex system components or applications, from design through deployment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, build scalable platforms, and improve engineering productivity.

  • Contribute to Agile development processes, including technical design, estimation, coding, testing, and maintenance.

  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.

  • Balance long-term vision with short-term priorities in design decisions.

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.

  • Proven ability to design, build, and scale complex systems, including experience with proof-of-concept development.

  • Expertise in building high-scale systems using microservice-based architectures and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages and agile development methodologies.

  • Highly motivated and self-directed, with a strong desire to learn and contribute to a high-performing team.

  • Preferred understanding of cloud architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and RESTful APIs.
