Job Summary
Everest Insurance Company of Canada is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Underwriter to join our growing Cyber insurance team. Reporting to the Head of Cyber, this role is responsible for the underwriting and production of new and renewal Cyber business, supporting Everest’s continued growth across Canada.
As a key member of the Cyber team, you will manage a profitable portfolio, build strong broker and client relationships, and deliver customized insurance solutions across a broad range of industries.
Key Responsibilities
Grow, manage, and maintain a profitable portfolio of Cyber business, including Cyber Liability, Technology E&O, and Miscellaneous Professional Liability.
Develop, cultivate, and strengthen new and existing broker and customer relationships across Canada.
Partner with brokers and clients to structure and deliver tailored insurance solutions.
Perform all aspects of the underwriting process and due diligence, including:
Review and analysis of underwriting submissions and financial documentation
Assessment of third‑party vendor reports
Evaluation of market trends and individual risk characteristics
Negotiate pricing, deal structure, and policy terms and contract language.
Identify and source new business opportunities through a strong broker and client network.
Collaborate closely with other Financial Lines segments, regional underwriting teams, and internal and external business partners.
Deliver exceptional broker and customer service in line with industry‑leading standards.
Ensure strong adherence to internal underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and file documentation standards.
Work collaboratively with Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Marketing, and Head Office teams to achieve shared business objectives.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a College Diploma with relevant and applicable work experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in cyber insurance underwriting, broking, consulting, or related professional experience.
Cybersecurity training, certifications, or professional designations are considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and concise summaries to senior management.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, assess risk, and draw sound conclusions.
Detail‑oriented with strong underwriting judgment and documentation discipline.
Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
Demonstrated bias for action, urgency, and a strong work ethic with a results‑driven approach.
Solid understanding of Cyber insurance wordings, endorsements, and the Canadian Cyber market.
Comfortable analyzing Cyber risk exposures across a variety of industries, including:
Energy
Financial Institutions
Construction
Manufacturing
Technology
Retail
Transportation
Marine
Industrials
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
The base salary range for this position is CAD 75,000 - CAD 120,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
