Job Description

We are currently seeking a Security/Scale Operator to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary, AB location.  This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant produces premium asphalt roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous manufacturing process environment.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously check the Security system and the gate/area monitors to ensure that the security of the IKO premises is not compromised
  • Print the necessary scale tickets, bills of lading and custom papers for Truck Drivers. Obtain the necessary signatures and forward copies to the billing department
  • Scaling in and out trucks
  • Refuse to release any unsafe load and report the matter to the Shipping Supervisor or HSE Business Partner immediately
  • Direct carriers to appropriate loading docks/places
  • Communicate with Shippers the waiting time of carriers and control road traffic
  • Carry out Security rounds as scheduled, completing the required record and checks
  • Maintain various tracking documents and shipment logs
  • Prepare customs documents for Canada and overseas
  • Maintain and order supplies for shipping office
  • Communicate with Order Center on problems surrounding out-bound pick-lists
  • Conduct hourly checks of all fire heaters within the facility and correct deficiencies.
  • Conduct security patrols around the facility checkpoints.
  • During down times, will help with shipping and receiving tasks as assigned.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 4th Class Power Engineer designation
  • Proven Computer skills with Outlook, Word, Excel and ability to use a copier, and scan/fax functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically both verbally and in writing
  • Must be self-motivated, versatile, and able to make good use of time in slower periods by supporting other departments as requested
  • Must be customer focused (both internal and external) and have a good attitude
  • Previous experience with material handling & distribution warehouses preferred
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Wage

  • Starting wage for the position is $23.65/Hour. Once the employee successfully completes the probationary period, the wage goes up to $25.65/Hour.

This is a full-time non-unionized permanent position.
