Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in .NET Core, C#, and ASP.NET Core to join our high-performing engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance web applications and backend services that power critical business functions. This hybrid role balances 60% hands-on engineering work with 40% technical leadership and collaboration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys coding, system architecture, and mentoring others.

While the focus is on backend engineering, we are looking for someone with working knowledge of front-end technologies like JavaScript and ReactJS to effectively troubleshoot and collaborate across the full stack. You will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, implementing best practices, and ensuring that the solutions we build are robust, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business goals.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will architect and develop backend systems and services ensuring they meet high standards for scalability, performance, and security. You will participate in and often lead technical planning, design sessions, and code reviews, driving high standards across the team. Collaborating closely with product managers, UI developers, QA engineers, and DevOps, you will help translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions.

You will be responsible for resolving full-stack issues, especially those requiring backend insight but touching frontend components. You will actively support production systems and help maintain system health through logging, monitoring, and optimization. As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers, set direction on architecture and code quality, and foster a supportive and high-performing team culture. You’ll also help modernize our platforms using containerization, event streaming, and Kubernetes-based deployments. Looking for a self-motivated lead engineer who always keep up with latest technology advancements, continuously learn and mentor others.

Having experience with hybrid cloud deployments, observability platforms such as Splunk or Datadog, and legacy system modernization is a strong plus. Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions will help you integrate seamlessly into our engineering workflow. Prior experience working with microservices, private link networking, and Kubernetes will be advantageous.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Lead engineering teams in building architectures which are robust, fault-tolerant, and cloud- native
  • Possess extensive Azure managed services solution design and implementation experience
  • Reason logically and creatively, identifying problems, drawing valid conclusions from the data available, and develop effective solutions while applying creative thinking in the design and development of high performing web applications
  • Collaborate with fellow senior, lead engineers and QA Engineers to keep the team’s technology radar and architecture principles aligned to the industry and needs of our users
  • Lead code reviews and provide leadership and direction to junior engineers
  • Deliver multiple projects utilizing an Agile Scrum methodology
  • Take ownership, self-sufficient, hands-on position on the team to lead and drive quality, maintain application stability
  • Write complex programs, analyze code changes and suggest improvements
  • Check-in valuable, clean code on a daily basis that adds new features and capabilities
  • Create reference implementations for the purpose of mentoring and leading more junior staff (when required)
  • Help define engineering standards and provide technical mentorship to the team
  • Investigate and resolve any production issues from end user (UI) to persistence layer and work to prevent them
  • Work with product managers and project managers to ensure that all project deliverables are on time and high quality
  • Work collaboratively with other service teams

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities)

Basic Qualifications

  • Have 7+ years of experience in web application development or software engineering in a large enterprise environment using Microsoft tech stack, including familiarity with modern frameworks and platforms (e.g., ASP.NET Core, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Be able to demonstrate significant experience working with relational databases, SQL Server and newer NoSQL data stores as well as event streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • Familiarity with cloud native storage technologies such as Azure storage
  • Have a strong interest in open-source technology
  • Possess good communication skills and enjoy mentoring and helping others to succeed as a team
  • Care about your craft and have opinions about the “right” way to do things with technology
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical direction and influencing design decisions across teams
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and leading code/design reviews at scale

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in Ad tech applications
  • Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results
  • Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling
  • Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it
  • Prior experience as a tech lead or engineering lead on a cross-functional or distributed team
  • Track record of driving complex features or systems from inception to production in a leadership capacity
  • Experience contributing to long-term technical roadmaps and engineering strategy

Experience with:

  • Technology stack includes .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET Core and REST APIs.
  • Data persistence utilizing a mix of relational and NoSQL databases including SQL Server, Oracle, Redis, ElasticSearch, and RavenDB
  • Data streaming stack that includes Kafka.
  • Azure cloud and cloud native stack such as K8s, Key Vaults, Azure Storage
  • Unit testing using NUnit
  • Object Oriented Programming fundamentals and in depth understanding of Dependency Injection
  • Docker containers orchestrated via Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Observability stack that includes Splunk, Datadog and Grafana
  • Experience guiding platform-wide architectural improvements or modernization initiatives
  • Experience evaluating and selecting new technologies or tools for team-wide adoption

Required Education  

  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or another technical field
  • Prefer Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical discipline is highly desirable
