Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Regional Buyer – Indirect Sourcing who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.
 

The Indirect Sourcing team are responsible for the provision of strategic and operational Procurement for assigned materials and services related to e.g. IT, HR, Finance, Marketing, Facilities Management etc.

As part of this global team, you will be responsible for the provision of Sourcing and Buying capability to meet the global and regional business requirements for assigned categories.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading and facilitating sourcing indirect projects aimed at identifying cost saving and optimisation opportunities

  • Responsibility for contributing towards developing the appropriate sourcing strategy by utilising best in class sourcing methodologies

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to help them develop specifications, gain quotations and conduct analysis to balance the value of competing bids and make business case-based recommendations

  • Supporting the Global Indirect Procurement Management Team and working with suppliers to ensure cost reduction, risk mitigation and to establish robust commercial agreements

  • Leading, coordinating and taking responsibility for all day-to-day indirect procurement activities and troubleshooting, including liaison with end users and other internal stakeholders as required

  • Resolving any day-to-day end user and supplier operational queries including invoice and payment issues in conjunction with Finance and budget holders as appropriate when escalated from the Team

  • Be a leading example of the Hitachi Rail mission, vision and values

Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to degree or related trade level

  • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), or Institute of Supply Management (CPSM, or CPM) or another appropriate professional institute or relevant experience.

  • Experienced in end-to-end strategic sourcing 

  • Solid Purchasing Systems (P2P) technical knowledge, ideally including SAP and Bravo Systems

  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams

  • Working knowledge of Procurement Processes - to an advanced working level across a range of organisations.

  • Builds effective relationships collaborating at all levels underpinned by openness, honesty & respect.

  • Takes commitment seriously and does what they say they will do whilst holding others to account.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Demonstrates perseverance, patience and commitment for long term success
