Position Summary...
We’re looking for an exceptional illustrator–designer hybrid — a creative unicorn with the instincts of an artist and the systems-thinking of a brand designer. If you love illustrating expressive shapes, imagining full universes, and turning big concepts into polished, omnichannel design, this role is for you.
You’ll help shape seasonal visual identities that are expressive, culturally fluent, and strategically grounded.
In this role, you’ll concept, craft, and evolve rich visual worlds across digital, in-store, and social. You bring a strong foundation in illustration, graphic design, and art direction, and you know how to turn ideas into cohesive, scalable visual systems.
The ideal candidate has a versatile illustration portfolio that spans character work, pattern, iconography, and storytelling — with an ability to shift styles while maintaining impeccable craft. Experience with 3D, motion, or collaborating with external artists is a plus.
This is a role for a hands-on maker with taste, curiosity, and range — someone who can think big, iterate quickly, collaborate generously, and elevate the creative bar with both vision and execution.
What you'll do...
- Collaboration: Ideate, create, and implement omnichannel seasonal design systems. Work with internal partners to build temporary worlds that span across physical and digital channels.
- Pursue ways that we can work better, faster.
- Manage projects that are on-brief and polished, mitigating feedback, ultimately keeping workstreams on track.
- Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and consumer behaviors to inform design decisions and maintain our brand’s competitive edge.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship throughout the design and implementation process, ensuring that the final store experience meets or exceeds expectations.
- Project Oversight: Manage high-profile design projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in illustration, graphic design, advertising, fine arts, or related field and 3+ years designing for digital and physical experiences in a senior role.
- Proven track record of creating successful omnichannel design systems.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design process and strategic thinking.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools and software including the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, and Figma.
- Strong leadership – i.e. strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate external artist partners and connect across Walmart Creative Studio.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment leading design work.
- BONUSES: Working knowledge of After Effects
Reporting: - Reports to Creative Director, Seasonal Brand Design
- Individual Contributor
