Responsibilities:

  • System Monitoring & Maintenance: Oversee performance, execute jobs, manage backups, resolve abends, and ensure high availability.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Act as the point person for critical issues, quickly assess severity, escalate appropriately, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaboration: Work with business analysts, project managers, and other IT departments (security, apps, infrastructure).
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security protocols and integrity measures.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze system performance, implement improvements, and conduct regular maintenance and updates.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and operational tasks.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in planning for upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts, identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication, project management, strong analytical skills.
  • Technologies: COBOL, FORTRAN, PLI, z/OS, JCL, DB2, IMS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, FLASHR,  ACFII, Mainframe Hardware/Networking, MQ Series, MACPAC, CATIA. 

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Typically, 6+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role years of experience in software engineering
Proficiency in 1 or more software languages and development methodologies
Strong programming and debugging skills
Some prior experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity
Familiarity with software development methodologies and best practices
Good communication and teamwork skills
Strong organizational and time management skills

Additional Requirements

This role supports an ITAR-compliant client account with specific security and work authorization requirements:

  • Must be ITAR-compliant and able to provide proof of citizenship.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship.
  • Applicants must reside in the continental United States on US Soil. Puerto Rico is not exempt for this account.
  • A background check and drug test are required.

Location: Remote

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $73,400 - $136,300.
