Senior Manager, Learning Platforms Product Mgmt

The Senior Manager, Learning Platforms Product Manager is responsible for the strategic selection, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of online classroom technology solutions. This role collaborates with the Learning and Innovation team and university stakeholders to drive the adoption of learning platforms, enhance digital classroom experiences, improve content authoring, enrich content, and streamline support and administrative processes. This includes working with their development team to build solutions using innovative technology and approaches to enhance the classroom, content management systems, CRM platforms, and business process portals.
The Learning Platforms Product Manager leads a development team, administering and overseeing development efforts on classroom technologies, platform integrations, and custom solutions to support customer objectives. They also serve as the Product Owner for the classroom set of learning platforms managed by the Learning and Innovation team. They have a strong background in learning technology and have extensive experience in managing a technology ecosystem, seamlessly integrated together to provide an outstanding user experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Manager:
Lead the learning technology development team to ensure university customers fully leverage learning system and technology platform applications, extending their capabilities to maximize ROI. Focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and enhancing the overall end-user experience.
Oversee learning technology initiatives from inception to deployment, managing progress, defining milestones, monitoring adoption, and creating comprehensive documentation, training, and communication plans.
Provide strategic recommendations on platform enhancements that benefit the overall learning experience, content management and development, and platform administration and support.
Serve as the key point of contact for the university’s content management and learning management systems, understanding system functionality and configurations.
Work closely with key vendors and Technical Account Manager(s) for critical systems.
Develop strategies for integrating vendor and internet solutions into customer’s technology ecosystem to provide a seamless integrated experience.
Remain current on all new releases of learning platforms and technology to ensure universities are benefitting from new features and enhancements.
Serves as primary resource overseeing the troubleshooting and delivery of solutions for university customer technology system issues, providing relevant communication as needed.
Product Owner:
Lead Scrum ceremonies, prioritize work, allocate resources, plan team capacity, and capture metrics to align with Agile practices and company project tracking standards.
Manage development team backlog and work with stakeholders on prioritization, status updates, and related roadmap tracking.
Collaborate with the Scrum team to enhance team cohesion and operational efficiency, ensuring the timely delivery of solutions.
Lead Developer/Technical Lead:
Design development projects, outlining requirements, technical approaches, scope, dependencies for the development team.
Design and maintain team’s work tracking process, coding practices, documentation strategy, testing approaches, deployment pipelines, and progress transparency to stakeholders.
Provide coaching/development assistance to development team when necessary to improve team’s technology acumen and flexibility.
Establishes regular reporting and metrics to monitor team progress to goals and identify gaps.
Possess a level of technology expertise of various learning technologies, and adopts industry best practices in learning technology development, integration, customization and deployment.

Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of learning technology products and platforms, integration with other services and tools, and their customization and expandability.
Experience in developing whole custom solutions to solve business problems and for enhancing the classroom experience.
Proficiency in Brightspace(D2L), Adobe Experience Manager, and other learning experience platforms preferred.
Highly proficient in Java, JavaScript, HTL, HTML, CSS, Dynamics, PowerApps, Azure DevOps.
Experience building solutions for WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance.
Experience solving business problems through technology solutions (preferably related to course content management/development) in a higher education setting
Experience managing large systems-based projects and technically administering cloud-based content management and delivery products
Experience administering a Content Management System or Learning Management System (running reports, configuring settings, testing, etc.)
Exceptional communication, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a strong commitment to proactive customer service.
Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new software programs, APIs, and coding languages
Experience managing teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills that accurate convey complex technology concepts to business stakeholders
Strong attention to detail with strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to gather and analyze information to design and test solutions
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Passion for new technologies and education
Education & Experience Requirements:

10+ years of experience working in learning technology, ideally in a large progressive online university, professional education or ed tech environment
