Job Description

The Manager, Finance – Software and Services serves as a strategic partner to GM’s rapidly growing Software and Services organization, providing financial leadership across AI, cloud, and digital product initiatives. This role drives financial planning, investment evaluation, and performance insights that enable disciplined growth and innovation within GM’s evolving software ecosystem. By integrating strong financial acumen with an understanding of emerging technologies, this role ensures sound capital allocation, optimized cloud economics, and data-driven decision-making that supports GM’s long-term digital and AI strategy.

 

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Finance Leadership 

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis for GM’s AI organization. 

  • Support the valuation of AI initiatives across Robotics, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Finance, AI-enabled coding and other areas by partnering with technical and business leaders to assess the ROI, NPV, and IRR of AI investments and ensure alignment with GM’s long-term strategy. 

  • Establish KPI reporting frameworks and collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to meet AI ROI targets. 

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support AI-driven business cases and strategic decision-making. 

 Cloud Financial Management 

  • Own GM’s Cloud budget across hyperscalers (Azure, GCP, AWS) and on-prem infrastructure, playing a key role in optimizing and managing our cloud spend across multiple public cloud platforms. 

  • Collaborate with the FinOps team to build world-class cloud cost optimization capability. 

  • Partner with procurement team on SW purchases and cloud contracts and build relationships with infrastructure engineering, accounting and partnerships teams to deliver business insights. 

  • Drive cost transparency, efficiency, and accountability across cloud spend categories. 

  • Lead initiatives to improve forecasting accuracy, optimize cloud usage, and reduce waste. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of financial analysts. 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

  • Provide coaching and career development aligned with GM’s values and behaviors. 

 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, ideally in technology, cloud, or AI-focused environments. 

  • 3+ years of proven experience in people management, with a track record of developing talent and driving team performance. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud economics, SaaS models, and AI business valuation. 

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning. 

  • Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and Excel (Power Query, pivot tables, scenario modeling). 

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills – able to translate complex financial insights into actionable recommendations. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field
