Overview

We are searching for an experienced and dynamic Senior Cloud Engineer to lead our cloud engineering and operations team. This role is critical in ensuring our team provides customer cloud services with high reliability, scalability, and security. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in IT operations in both On-prem and Cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP) as well as proven leadership and team management experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of cloud-based systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Implement and oversee best practices for cloud operations, including monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform cloud-related projects and operational initiatives
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes
  • Lead Cloud incident management efforts, including root cause analysis and preventive measures
  • Help monitor cloud cost usage and implement cost-saving measures while ensuring system performance
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement cloud security best practices and conduct regular audits
  • Report on all Cloud-related projects and operational initiatives with management and customer staff
  • Develop and implement operational policies, and procedures for cloud environments
  • Communicate with all customers, vendors, and all stakeholders representing the Cloud team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting IT Operations in a cloud environment and an additional 2 years of experience leading projects.
  • Technical experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Technical experience with containers, service mesh, microservices architecture, and immutable infrastructure to support cloud native computing and applications
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture, security, and monitoring tools
  • Excellent organizational skills including using Agile methodologies and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively convey complex technical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with machine learning and data science techniques
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau
  • Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust clearance

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Azure Fundamentals or Administrator, AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect, or similar

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading a team of cloud engineers, including task delegation, performance reviews, and mentoring.
  • Ability to inspire and guide a team toward achieving technical and business goals.
  • Experience in managing team workloads, prioritizing tasks, and resolving conflicts to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Skilled in fostering collaboration within a diverse team, ensuring effective communication and alignment across projects.

Basic Compensation: $120,000- $150,000 yearly salary

The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates’ skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards, including performance incentives and program-specific awards.  An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
