Reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, our Plant Operator has a crucial responsibility in ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently. This position performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment and operates plant equipment and systems as directed by plant procedures.
You will contribute to our team by:
Monitoring equipment in the power block and balance-of-plant areas to ensure the safe, efficient operation of the plant.
Maintaining and reviewing logs and records of plant operational activities as required by procedures.
Performing valve lineups in support of routine plant operations.
Performing plant switching and tagging to ensure the safe performance of maintenance activities.
Periodically cleaning and inspecting plant areas and equipment.
Performing safe operations of plant electrical breakers and switchyard equipment.
Performing routine preventive maintenance on plant equipment such as, but not limited to: lubrication of pumps to maintain proper levels, adjustment of valve packing on low pressure systems (100psig), placement/removal of drums, containers, etc. for GTG water washing, water washing of gas turbines, and limited troubleshooting of electrical problems, such as fuse replacement.
Monitoring equipment in the Control Room under the direction of the Senior Plant Operator or the Shift Supervisor.
Performing minor re-lamping of plant equipment in support of daily work activities.
Reviewing and providing comments on plant operating procedures.
Performing equipment labeling to aid in the easy identification of plant equipment to aid in efficient plant operations.
Meeting and maintaining all training requirements as required to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Observing and reporting abnormal operating conditions of plant equipment and assisting with correction and/or initiation of work orders.
Performing operation of temporary equipment/power supplies in support of plant outages.
Performing all operations needed to maintain a safe working environment.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Completed High School Diploma or completed advanced education/degree in power generation, or related field (preferred).
Education equivalency may be considered.
Experience and Skills:
3-5 years’ experience in generating plant operations (preferred).
Valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location.
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stairs.
Additional Details:
Union: Utilities Workers Union of America
Wage: $32.03 per hour; to be increased to $35.04 after successfully completing the 6-month training program.
Hours of Work: 12-hour rotating shift

As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required, subject to applicable law.
