Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and support the sales and use tax environment for Lowe’s. This includes ensuring the accurate application of sales and use taxes across all sales channels, as well as maintaining a comprehensive audit trail from point-of-sale (in-store and online) through downstream systems.

Key responsibilities include conducting item coding, tax law research, supporting tax-free holiday initiatives, and managing exemption certificates. Secondary responsibilities involve assisting with sales and use tax audits, reconciling general ledger accounts, and supporting Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control testing. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assign appropriate product classifications to ensure accurate taxability of items
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and leverage automation tools, such as Alteryx, to improve efficiency
  • Retrieve and provide data as needed to support Indirect Tax team requests
  • Conduct tax research in response to ad hoc inquiries and business needs
  • Assist with Indirect Tax Compliance tasks as required
  • In-Office Availability: Available for in-office work from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM IST.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field; and 5-7 years of experience in accounting, tax, finance (public or private) or relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business (Non-Accounting) or related field; and 3-5 years of experience in accounting, tax, finance (public or private) or relevant experience
  • 1-4 years experience with Vertex, Sovos or AvaTax Tax Engines
  • Intermediate skills in MS office programs (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic GAAP concepts and financial controls (to apply this knowledge to the design and execution of activities within the respective area)
  • Intermediate skills in MS office programs (Excel, Word, Access)
