As part of the People Services team, the Manager, Employment Knowledge provides expert advice and support to the People Community on the interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, awards, legislation, internal employment policies and local agreements across the Qantas Group.
The role is responsible for overseeing the implementation of new enterprise agreements by teams within People Services, as well as day to day assistance with drafting contractual documentation on behalf of the Qantas Group (e.g. contracts of employment, flexible working arrangements etc). The role also is responsible for providing expert advice on a broad range of employment issues to ensure a consistent and correct application of enterprise agreements, awards and local agreements by People Services.
The role also proactively assesses People processes and functions to identify risks of non-compliance with employment obligations, recommends improvements and liaises with relevant stakeholders to drive and facilitate the implementation of those improvements.
You’ll have –
5+ years’ experience in providing comprehensive advice and interpretation of complex industrial instruments and relevant legislation including the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), as well as State legislation (experience in industrial/operational organisation preferable)
Tertiary Qualifications in Employment law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or in a relevant field
Proactive mindset to provide practical and pragmatic solutions to support the business needs and deliver optimal Group outcomes, whilst ensuring compliance with employment obligations
Proven ability to understand and analyse complex employment related queries, investigate and collate relevant information, identify possible associated risks and propose relevant solutions in a timely manner
Strong understanding of complexities of employment contracts and experience drafting employment contracts (experience with terms and conditions in the aviation industry desirable)
Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills to relate to people at all levels of the organisation with the ability to lead, influence, negotiate and coach others
Sound judgement maintaining appropriate confidentiality and discretion
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively and efficiently manage a high-volume workload
