The Secure Network Services (SNS) Chapter, part of Group Technology Services (GTS), protects CommBank’s global workplace network, ensuring secure connectivity across our platforms and applications. Part of the Workforce & Workplace Connectivity Crew, they support Branch Connectivity, Corporate and Guest WiFi, International Segmentation Firewalls, Outbound User Internet Access, and our International Connectivity.

Your Role

As a Staff Platform Engineer specialising in Network Security and Workplace Connectivity, you’ll design and secure advanced network solutions. Leading initiatives, influencing strategy, and owning the lifecycle of the solutions you build, you'll work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure networking solutions. Ultimately, you will be responsible for the delivery of scalable, well-architected solutions that address both current and future networking and security challenges, applying cyber security risk and threat modelling principles to protect the network and ensure its resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy secure platforms with comprehensive DevSecOps lifecycle support.

  • Engineer network security using Cisco Routing and Switching technologies and Data Centre Leaf & Spine architectures.

  • Secure perimeters and cloud environments using Palo Alto NGFW, PRISMA SaaS, PA SD-WAN, BC Proxies, and Cisco ASA Firewalls.

  • Manage wireless environments using Cisco Wireless and Juniper MIST for secure connectivity.

  • Implement and manage NAC solutions with Forescout and Cisco ISE.

  • Drive network automation using Python, Ansible, and Docker.

  • Collaborate with cloud teams to secure multi-cloud environments and integrate with platforms like VMware and RHEL.

  • In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to lead key initiatives, influence strategy, and own the full lifecycle of the network security solutions you build.

About You

  • Expertise in Cisco Routing and Switching (BGP, OSPF, STP, Nexus OS).

  • Experience with multi-cloud (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network architectures.

  • Proficiency in network security technologies (Palo Alto NGFW, PRISMA SaaS, Cisco ASA Firewalls).

  • Background in wireless technologies (Cisco Wireless, Juniper MIST) and NAC solutions (Forescout, Cisco ISE).

  • Skills in automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, Docker).

  • Hands-on experience with virtualisation platforms (VMware, RHEL).

  • Ability to align secure, scalable solutions with business objectives.
