SMX is seeking Integration Technician II install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repairs cable infrastructure including copper and/or fiber cable for data networks, audio/visual and video- teleconferencing systems, and electronic security systems. The Integration Technician may also assist with the installation of digital switching equipment, racks and miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion detection, access control, computer data circuits and related other information technology systems.  

This position requires a DoD secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables as well as category 5e, category 6, multi-pair backbone copper cable and fiber optic structured cable
  • Install or maintain existing fire stopping systems in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations
  • Install various types of communication systems Inside, and outside plant
  • Installs Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) and updates facility drawings
  • Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications
  • Often expected to work independently and directly reports to Integration Team Project Manager
  • Responsible for maintaining safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal requirements
  • Attends project meetings with customer and SMX leadership to provide daily, weekly, and monthly project status updates as directed
  • Provides requested deliverables ahead of deadlines to team lead and project manager for review
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time to both CONUS and OCONUS locations

Required Skills & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience bending and installing PDS pipes in accordance with industry standards
  • 2-3 years of experience testing, troubleshooting, installing, and terminating fiber optic & copper cable infrastructure
  • 2-3 years of experience with infrastructure installation or network infrastructure support
  • Ability to follow specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to climb ladders, use scaffolding/scissor lifts, and climb radio towers without fear of heights
  • Valid US Passport within 90 days of hire

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Current active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Current BICSI Installer-2, Optical Fiber (INSTF), fiber or copper, OSHA10, confined spaces safety certification(s), American Red Cross CPR/AED certified, and/or other industry manufacturer certifications
  • Experience working with DoD organizations
  • DoD8570/DoD8140 IAT II certification (ie: Sec+, etc)
  • A/V Installations Certification
  • Electronic Security System Certification (Lenel, AMAG, or DMP)
  • Experience finishing drywall and other light construction tasks necessary to complete installations of electronics equipment

$59,200$88,900 USD
