We have a brilliant new opportunity for an Energy Compliance Consultant to join our Energy Compliance team. The Energy Compliance team is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust compliance framework for energy and ensuring the governance structure within which the framework sits is effective.

Location: We embrace flexible working through our Flexible First arrangements, as we believe that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. However, the successful candidate must be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office regularly.

What will you do?

  • Advisory & Assurance: Operational delivery of pro-active advice and assurance activities working within a team and with wider members of Centrica (for example Internal Audit, Risk colleagues, etc) or other subject experts. This will primarily involve designing and completing testing of conduct risks and/or controls, to be able to identify gaps and issues relating to customer harm, and to clearly communicate these and the potential implications, and to monitor and sign-off the associated remedial actions.
  • Governance: Assist in the maintenance and oversight of the governance framework developed for the regulated entity (British Gas Trading Ltd) and ensure its alignment with the energy compliance framework.
  • Regulatory Reporting:  Oversee Regulatory Reporting, engages with key stakeholders to help ensure returns are accurately submitted in a timely manner to regulatory obligations.

Who are we looking for?

Our Energy Compliance team ensures that Centrica adheres to all relevant energy laws and regulations. Building strong relationships with senior management is crucial, as is providing close support to various business areas. Therefore, you must be capable of developing excellent working relationships across all levels of the Centrica Group and becoming a trusted advisor to key business leaders.

It would be great if you could also bring the following;

  • Proven experience in a regulated environment with a solid understanding of the energy supply regulatory framework is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to propose practical actions and tailor communications to various stakeholder levels.
  • Proficient in absorbing and manipulating information/data from multiple sources and formats (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, operational systems) to drive Assurance insights, review conclusions, and proportionate actions.
  • Capable of understanding, identifying, and clearly articulating risks and controls related to a wide range of issues, with a focus on conduct risk and customer outcomes, and designing testing activities in line with departmental methodology.
  • Engage with stakeholders openly, honestly, and productively to promote collaborative working.
