About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Full Stack Software Engineer with proven experience in web development and data intensive, distributed system architecture. For more information about qualifications, see “Don’t Apply If” below

What Breadboard Engineering looks like

• We favor strong communication and pair programming, never working in silos

• We favor build over buy within reason. We use managed services but reserve full control over customization whenever necessary. Everything is terraformed. Nothing is vendor locked

• Everything is built using established, current technology. There is not a single image or dependency that can’t be updated and any new framework or paradigm is open for usage if it has the right value proposition

• We have a robust CI/CD pipeline. Spin up a local environment immediately, push your code to a feature environment with attention to your branch name

• We write safe code. Our codebase leverages every guarantee TypeScript has to offer and we are Draconian about leveraging libraries like Lodash to further guarantee safety

• We don’t implement something until we can reason about it logically. This means any Engineer can go into any part of the code base and be immediately productive

• We don't have Product/Engineering barriers. We take ownership over everything we do and ask questions when we aren't clear

• We ship to production every week if not every day

• We are genuinely having fun. We believe in what we are doing. We believe in the technical decisions we’ve made to support our goals, and we are dogged in seeing it through

What we’re working on and how you’ll fit in

• We support a high volume of client-specific APIs for pricing and availability along with data transacted across email relays. You’ll play a huge role in understanding how data moves through these pipelines and how it can be optimized across every step 

• We stream a lot of data down to the client that can be optimized using aggregations. This is a high priority as we work with our clients to forecast and act on their supply chains

• We normalize unstructured data using LLMs. As we drive productivity for our end users, we’ll be baking in many more AI features within the safety parameters set

• We do a lot of math to drive optimizations across supply chain permutations. Those who Linear Algebra for breakfast will be feasting

• We build world-class user interfaces that make complex data intuitive, performant, and beautiful. Front-End development at Breadboard isn’t just about functionality—it’s about crafting seamless user experiences that empower supply chain teams to move faster and make smarter decisions.

Don’t apply if

• You think AI tools will replace you or programmers like you

• You aren’t willing to come into our office in Union Square most of the week

• You don’t have strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, AWS, Sockets, GraphQL, Redux, or Postgres 

• You have never worked with a large dataset (larger than you can run on your machine)

• You have little interest in understanding nuances about electronic components

• You don’t think your effort will directly contribute to the overall success of the company

• You never/wouldn’t consider being an entrepreneur yourself

• You don’t feel a visceral pain when looking at, working in, or writing bad code

• You give up easily when faced with complex, messy, or ambiguous problems—or if you’re looking for a typical 9-5 job
