The Opportunity:

As Senior Research Specialist for Defense Acquisition Programs, you will perform critical research tasks for key leaders who support the principal staff assistant and advisor to the Secretary of Defense, for matters relating to functions such as: Department of Defense acquisition and sustainment for research and development; advanced technology; developmental test and evaluation; production; logistics; installation management; military construction; defense procurement; acquisition policy; environmental and nuclear security; chemical and biological matters; operational energy plans and programs; corrosion policy and oversight; human capital initiatives; as well as small and disadvantaged business management.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing research and analyzing information from a variety of acquisition and program sources

  • Authoring, reviewing, and editing documents and preparing reports

  • Participating in program performance assessments of Major Defense Acquisitions Programs.

  • Providing accurate research and analytics for senior leader decisions

  • Interacting with and managing a broad range of highly sensitive issues with offices of the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments, Joint Staff, Defense Agencies, GAO, Combatant Commands, US and foreign industry, and Congress.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college/university.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in of specialized in DOD policy, product support, and logistics.

  • Executive level support experience, experience within DoD and other federal agencies.

  • Experience in leading and providing technical guidance and direction involving multiple projects of high complexity.

  • Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.

  • Must have outstanding customer service abilities to initiative, judgement, creativity, flexibility, and confidence.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited college/university.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$85,800 - $180,200
