About the team:

The Walmart AdTech Advertising Business Systems engineering team provides onboarding, billing, data and tooling solutions for Walmart Connect (https://www.walmartconnect.com/). We employ big data and machine learning to turn Walmart’s massive scale and reach into value proposition for our customers.

Position Summary:

This Principal Engineer role is responsible for leading design and development of mission critical components of distributed platform, where efficiency, high quality and precision are revered values. The platform supports the needs of managed services as well as expanding self-serve offerings.

A successful person in this role will own major applications and tools of the advertising business systems, drive alignment with other teams, guide architecture and technology choices within the team and across Walmart Connect (Walmart’s Advertising Business unit).

This is a hands-on role and so we are looking with an exceptional and experienced coder. In addition, you will take on a role of either in-house Java, OOP and Data Pipelines expert, who will help us build systems that are fast, maintainable and elegant, or someone who will take on defining architecture and methodology and bring clarity to broadly defined problems. Ideally you have elements of both.

What you will do:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, focusing on big data processing and distributed systems.

  • Proficient in Java, Spark, HQL and SQL.

  • Deep knowledge in Hadoop ecosystem, like HDFS, Hive and MapReduce etc.

  • Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.

  • Excellent data analytics skills and ability to explore and identify data issues.

  • Ability to explain complex subjects in layman’s terms.

  • Experience with distributed version control like Git or similar.

  • Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Jenkins and Maven.

  • Familiar with public cloud technologies in Google Cloud Platform, especially Big query, GCS and Dataproc.

  • Experience with API integrations and distributed applications.

  • Knowledge of Python, Spring Boot and Hibernate.

  • Good to have experience with ETL pipelines.

  • Some exposure to machine learning and data science is good to have.

  • Good to have experience in AdTech and Advertising background.

  • Exposure to Salesforce or any packaged software’s would be a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
