SUMMARY

 Title: Accounting System Specialist:

*Position reports to Director of Accounting

  • Focuses on improving customer experience through the introduction and set up of new system connections to client general ledger accounts
  • Creates standard and customized reports of client general ledger accounts using report writer or base system functionalities;  
  • Performs system conversion and General Ledger account set up for acquisitions and client migrations
  • Serves as a product owner of GL Set Up and Client General Ledger Set Up
  • Provides support to internal staff when General Ledger accounts need to be provided within a short time frame;
  • Collaborates with business units on improving customer satisfaction by enhancing the overall support model;    
  • Participates in various project teams as an individual contributor or serving as the Project Lead at times; and 
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement throughout both the accounting team, the information systems team, and the customers we serve.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to the following.

  • Takes a product owner approach to supporting the applications used by clients and internal staff, ensuring collaboration with business teams regarding system capabilities and/or processes.  
  • Serves as a member of various project teams to reach goals on departmental balance score card.   Contributions include application implementations, enhancements, and recurring setups.  May serve the role of Accounting representative.  Collaborates with internal staff and external vendors to determine needs and processes for each project.
  • Tests applications for proper operation after new installations and updates. Processes various testing situations to research and resolve application issues. Resolves routing functionality and operational issues using acquired knowledge and experience or researches application documentation and online help resources to find solutions.  Consults with more experienced applications specialists with accountants on more complex or confounding issues and problems.
  • Assists with ongoing collaboration effort among business teams, from basic system training to leading efforts to solve complex business problems by leading teams through problem solving discussions and working to identify solutions.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Experience working alongside accounting teams or knowledge of general ledger accounts
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general ledger accounting
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

Recommended system knowledge:

Excel, PowerBI, Prism, iSolved, ClientSpace, SalesForce

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance.
