The practices business owner team is a global team that is the voice of the practices and advocates for Ratings users in order to prioritize investments in technology, process, and people. The team works with partners across the organization to identify opportunities that are intended to create value, overseeing validation, prioritization, and realization of business value.
The Impact:
The Business Owner is a leader that guides the organization to optimal business outcomes. They provide leadership to the Value Stream which is a collection of 80-100 people, from across the Ratings organization, working to deliver the outcomes prioritized by the Business Owner. The Business Owner will have primary accountability for the outcomes, governance of value realization, and responsibility for the long-term strategy and prioritization of the solutions delivered by the value stream. They will best represent the needs of the users to create the highest impact business value, manage stakeholders, and drive the adoption of solutions.
The Business Owners are empowered to make decisions for the value stream including data, technology, process, and other capabilities that support the business. Business Owners are Lean-Agile Leaders who share accountability for the value delivered by a value stream. They have deep knowledge of their specific value stream, with the ability to create alignment with other value streams and partners to support the business plan to achieve impact.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the business outcomes and governing value realization for the Structured Finance value stream.
Provide regular updates on Value Stream status and progress in various settings from IRB, OpCo meetings, town halls, and regular team huddles.
Understanding how the strategic themes from the Ratings Strategy influence the value stream in creating a vision and roadmap so that there is a connection between functional and departmental strategy. Identification of high-impact opportunities for the value stream.
Provide key insights on translation of strategic intent into investments and scopes of work (e.g., Epics, MVPs, and features). Serve as Epic Owners to guide investments in major initiatives.
Manage investments by proposing budget guardrails and verify that it is spent on the right things at the right time.
Ensure that value stream objectives are understood and agreed to by key stakeholders from across the organization.
Active member of the value stream leadership team, along with Product Management, Engineering Lead and QA Lead.
Driving adoption of changes to support business value realization.
Influence prioritization for long-term investment and when incremental decisions are required.
Actively take part in the planning and monitoring of value stream activity and progress, on a quarterly basis.
Devise value stream metrics to understand how the value stream is progressing to the intended business outcomes and communicate these across the organization.
Coordinate with regulatory, compliance, and risk to ensure the value stream is contributing to meeting these commitments.
Embed risk management into value stream prioritization.
Partner closely with the Product Management Lead on creating and refining a roadmap for the Value Stream.
Work closely with Ratings Technology teams to define product requirements and provide context for the Value Stream’s goals and priorities.
Qualifications:
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 7 + years' experience leading change initiatives or driving process improvement projects is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in the financial services industry.
Leader with a knowledge of the value stream, practice, external customers, and analysts – in this case Structured Finance – and how they interact with other value streams.
Ability to conduct data-driven assessment of opportunities that will create value for the practices and achieve strategic goals.
Well-developed stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to explain investment decisions, hold others to account and create alignment.
Change-ready leader with the ability to manage change, and influence resistance to change.
Demonstrated leadership, communication and partnering skills.
Ability to explain unfamiliar concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
Strong presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience in KPI-based project execution backed by strong process discipline.
Innovative, creative, and effective problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and management.
Proven ability to manage complex projects with cross-functional teams.
Strong team player - the ability to think locally and work globally in a collaborative and multicultural work environment is critical.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,900.00 to $250,300.00 Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
