This is a unique position at Manulife and the financial industry where the incumbent will have access to insurance data with the mandate of presenting and analyzing the data to find new opportunities for the businesses. Reporting into Field Compensation and Sales Reporting umbrella, the Reporting Analyst has these areas of responsibility: Complete sales reporting for our individual insurance business, Develops and generates insights for the Insurance Leadership and Sales teams. Provide in-depth analysis of data used for strategy and sales initiatives. The Reporting Analyst provides insights and analysis specifically in support of product development, digital transformation, underwriting and sales. Understanding of respective business strategies is critical in order to produce relevant and meaningful analysis and insights to support business goals and objectives.

Position Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities

Development of data driven insights and analytics deliverables

  • Consult, prepare and distribute effective and concise analytics deliverables for all levels of management, in support of business objectives using various Business Intelligence tools.

  • Develop ad hoc value-added solutions based on consulting with management, internal and external business partners.

  • Following solutions standards will be monitored to ensure expected customer satisfaction:

    • Relevancy, Accuracy, Timeliness, Visual Appeal, Compliant with privacy and confidentiality guidelines

  • Reports will be used for the following purposes:

    • Strategic planning and goal setting, Tactical decisions, Recognition

    • Conduct ongoing needs assessment interviews with customers to determine reporting requirements and test/validate all developed solutions. Look for opportunities to streamline and consolidate reporting effectiveness.

    • Additional functions include building, executing and maintaining queries and spreadsheets.

    • Act as a central information resource and liaison for internal and external business partners for sales and MIS.

    • A “roll up your sleeves” attitude and willingness to perform tasks with a range of difficulty from routine tasks to preparing analysis for senior management.

    • This role is required to participate in projects that support new data projects.

    • Transfer knowledge to the other teams and departments through coaching/consulting.

    • Review requirements with the requestor to ensure a full understanding of the needs to build the solution in an accurate and timely manner. Negotiate delivery dates with Clients based on the complexity of the requirements.

Provide in-depth analysis of data used for strategy and initiatives

  • Prepare in-depth analysis and commentary for major initiatives such as:

    • Trend analysis and prediction, Segmentation and personas, and correlations

    • This role will need to recognize and extract relevant information required for analysis and reporting.

    • Act as a key point of contact with business to bridge and translate business requirements to analytics and reporting needs

    • Partners with other internal divisions (e.g. Finance, Product, Marketing Research, Strategy)

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Economics, or Mathematics

  • 2 years’ experience

  • Exceptional query knowledge (SQL , Excel, Access, MS Office, etc.)

  • Experience working with Business Intelligence Tools (e.g. Power BI)

  • Knowledge of Salesforce is required (Reports and Dashboards, DataLoader)

  • Proven excellence in communication– both verbal and written

  • Solid understanding of the upstream admin systems and downstream impacts to other areas

  • Strong team player with a high commitment to quality work and service

Salary range is expected to be between

$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CAD
