About The Role 

 

We’re seeking an organized and client-focused Account Assistant within the Complex Risk Unit. This role supports senior brokers and account managers in servicing complex commercial marine accounts, helping ensure the accurate and timely handling of insurance documentation, invoicing, and client communication. 

  

What You’ll Do  

  • Provide prompt, professional support to clients and internal stakeholders, responding to inquiries and processing routine service requests 

  • Prepare client-facing documents such as certificates of insurance, binders, letters, policy summaries, and renewal packages 

  • Accurately process policy changes, endorsements, and invoices using HUB’s broker management systems (e.g., EPIC) 

  • Assist with compiling submission materials for underwriters and tracking outstanding information 

  • Maintain electronic file documentation and follow HUB’s compliance and file management standards 

  • Monitor and support collections by following up on outstanding premium balances and reviewing accounts receivable reports

  • Help track and maintain expiry dates, abeyances, and documentation for renewals and endorsements 

  • Perform administrative tasks including data entry, internet research, and responding to third-party requests as needed 

  • Support the senior Marine & Cargo team with ad hoc project work, reports, and client presentations 

 

 What You’ll Need for Success  

 

  • RIBO license (or willingness to obtain within three months) 

  • 1–2 years of experience in commercial insurance (marine experience is a plus but not required) 

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to handle a high volume of work with accuracy and responsiveness 

  • Familiarity with invoicing, certificate issuance, and policy documentation processes 

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a fast-paced team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with EPIC or other broker systems is an asset 

  • A strong desire to learn about marine & cargo insurance and grow within a specialty line

The expected salary range for this position is $44,000 to $60,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
