What you need to know:
The quality of Senior Leadership is a defining factor for a company’s success. Senior Leaders are responsible for developing business strategies and/or translating those strategies into meaningful outcomes and ultimately, business results. As a Senior Leader, you reach across geographical and functional boundaries to create alliances that further the organization’s objectives and market position. Your deep and broad process and/or transformation knowledge allows you to foresee external conditions that could potentially affect AIG’s future.
Category Leaders report to the Chief Procurement Officer and will be a key member of the GS&PS leadership team leading the development, deployment and business partnership for the global source to pay functions within the GS&PS organization. This leader will partner and collaborate with the senior leaders in Finance and IT to ensure overall alignment, governance, and viability with the GS&PS strategy compliantly and within budget.
Ownership of Category strategy and possibly a team of category managers in partnership with business teams throughout AIG. This includes working with the teams to define and execute strategies in support of business priorities across a category’s complete life cycle. This will require managing a preferred supplier base (managing new emerging and exiting legacy non directional categories) along with assisting and driving standards of excellence where warranted. The lead will build cross functional teams to address key contract renewals, aligned with Category metrics to determine opportunities to improve value, maintain service while driving time frames aligned with various businesses and support groups. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form strong partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously. The Category Director is an expert practitioner in the tools for creating competitive environments and has a strong bias for decision-making rooted in Sourcing, data and analytics. A category director will be an AIG or Industry expert in Technology, Services or related support. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team that is having a daily impact on company success.
