The Opportunity

The Director of Sales for Eastern Canada will be responsible for leading Canopy’s sales organization for Recreational Cannabis across the Eastern provinces – Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

The Director of Sales will be accountable for overall sales organization performance within their region, the profitable achievement of sales targets, and for aligning sales objectives with the Canopy’s overall business strategy.

Executing the regional business strategy, and building the team will be a key priority for this entrepreneurial leader who exhibits passion for winning, and a track record for delivering exceptional results. This role will report to the National Head of Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Eastern Canadian sales organization’s objectives with Canopy’s business objectives and ensure sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting is consistent with Canopy Growth’s ambition to be our customers first choice partner.

  • Support the development of Canopy’s Eastern sales organization including mentoring and professional development, refinement of roles and structure as the recreational market matures, champion the use of centralized Sales processes and tools.

  • Achieve revenue, market share and profit objectives as well as other key financial metrics and sales specific performance indicators.

  • Develop sales capabilities and L&D programs to ensure the sales team has the knowledge and tools to excel in the marketplace.

  • Be a champion in supporting and deploying the sales organizations performance management system including principles for performance, establishing performance objectives for each role and ensure all sales individuals are held accountable for delivering results.

  • Provide leadership to the Eastern sales organization, while developing a culture of accountability and cross functional collaboration.

  • Accountable for establishing and delivering against sales budgets across salaries & benefits, travel & expenses, and trade spend.

  • Lead and execute sales organization change initiatives by continuously assessing the evolving requirements of the business and being a champion of change.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners and internal business partners.

Experience and Background

  • A proven senior commercial leader with broad experience across sales and sales leadership

  • Proven experience creating or building a high performing sales organization

  • A broad mental framework that is comfortable across multiple stages of development from conceptual thinking to documenting core processes

  • Experience working with retailers, partners and across multiple sales channels

  • Experience in Beverage Alcohol or relatable industries an asset.

  • An insatiable curiosity of what makes customers tick and the ability to turn that curiosity into insight and business solutions
