This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign on bonus.*

The starting wage for this role is $22.00 - $24.00/hour with monthly bonus opportunities. A successful crane operator will be able to manage a high volume of plate movement and other materials on a daily basis. They will also need to organize the floor space in an efficient manner for processing, storage and shipment of plate while minimizing excess handling.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Loading rail cars, trucks and pre-packing material, setting up in-process stations and assisting the mill with plate as needed

  • Load trucks and rail cars according to customer needs and fulfill all railroad requirements

  • Keep the mill running by removing plate from the mill roll lines and monitor for quality issues

  • Assist the loaders as needed for loading trucks, railcars, pre-packing material and digging out material for samples or further processing needs

  • Process plate through the various in-process locations

  • Assist in organizing the floor putting material in the proper locations to avoid double handling or bottle necking certain areas of processing and loading

  • Assist crane chasers as needed for setting up railcars (pulling wood stake pockets)

  • Provide support to maintenance as issues arise

  • Complete a crane inspection form at the beginning of every shift

  • Perform other shipping tasks/projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • EVRAZ certified crane operator or ability to obtain an EVRAZ crane operator certification

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime

  • Ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise

  • Excellent problem solving, planning and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willing to cross train in other shipping positions

  • Knowledge of product flow, plate movement and storage within the department, preferred

*Sign-on bonus paid after successful completion of 90 day probation period.
