Job Description 

As a Senior Software Engineer on Strider’s Data Collection Team, your job is to leverage Python to build, automate, and scale data collection efforts. You will contribute to our industry-leading web scraping platform and the internal tools that touch it. You will also provide leadership and guidance to establish best practices for engineering teams. 

We’re looking for someone passionate about technology, who stays on top of the latest trends and loves to engage with the developer community. A strong desire and aptitude for learning is a must. Our solution is rapidly evolving, with new challenges, new technologies, and a constantly changing threat landscape that we help protect against. 

What you will do: 

  • Using Python and other modern programming languages, build and enhance data collection pipelines. 
  • Using JavaScript and Python, build internal tools and dashboards to allow users to interact with data collection pipelines.  
  • Participate in code reviews. 
  • Collaborate with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, product managers, and subject-matter experts. 
  • Translate requirements, specifications, and technical design documents into secure applications and/or services. 
  • Develop and maintain software using already established best practices for creating readable and maintainable code. 

 What you will need to be successful: 

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering. 
  • Ability to work alongside other engineers to accomplish tasks. 
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and focus on clear goals. 
  • Ability to ask questions when you need assistance. 
  • A pragmatic approach towards tackling unforeseen challenges. 
  • Infinite appetite for learning. 
  • Experience with Python. 
  • Experience with JavaScript. 
  • Experience with HTML and CSS. 
  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems. 

 What will set you apart from other candidates: 

  • Experience with Scrapy (Python web scraping framework). 
  • Experience working with Neo4j or similar graph databases. 
  • Experience with issue tracking tools, such as Jira.
