About the Team

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to be part of the continued success of the Learning Packaged Content team. In this role you will lead one of the two engineering teams based in Dublin.

The team is responsible for the architecture, maintenance, deployment, provisioning and monitoring of the multiple services that support all standards-based eLearning content (SCORM/ AICC/ xAPI etc) within the Workday product and also building exciting product features to support and enhance these services. Our tech stack includes AWS, Docker, Terraform, Kotlin, Scala and Python

You will partner closely with the wider Learning group and teams located in Canada and the U.S.A.

The successful candidate will be balancing multiple priorities with competing deadlines, be passionate about building high quality enterprise applications and be innovative in their ideas from a technical, process and relations point of view. About the Role

  • Provide coaching, mentoring and support to the direct report staff in both technical and non-technical issues. Ensure high efficiency of the team members. Provide support for their career growth and personal development.

  • Understand the business strategy and goals, translating those into actionable objectives and key results

  • Plan releases and schedule development. Monitor and report progress of the project against key milestones. Balance resources with task assignments. Ensure timely and high quality delivery

  • Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams towards operational excellence

  • Keep feature partners updated throughout the development cycle. Provide liaison with relevant parties, including product management, QA, other development teams, production, product support, etc., to facilitate the release process. Lead development related customer escalation when needed.

  • Contribute to process improvement within a development organization. Institute and adopt best engineering practices.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years experience leading and coaching software developers, SDETs and DevOps engineers, ranging in experience from graduate level up to seasoned professionals

  • You have experience working in cloud environments such as AWS and GCP

Other Qualifications:   

  • You see software development as a team sport, and thrive in a highly collaborative, agile culture where you’re always teaching and learning 

  • You have a strong focus on delivering high quality software products and you value test automation

  • You are proactive and able to deliver on initiatives that you start

  • You have a background and technical capabilities in object oriented design and development 

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
