Principal Systems Administrator Team Lead

Meet the Team

We are looking for a principle systems administrator team lead to join our global IT team and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure. You will be working with  a team of systems administrators who manage our cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will also be involved in developing and executing automation and infrastructure as code strategies, as well as providing technical guidance and support to other IT teams and stakeholders .

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems administrators who manage our Azure and AWS cloud platforms, as well as our on-premise virtualization, Active Directory, Windows servers, Linux/Unix servers, VMware vSphere & vSAN, SAN, fiber channel, networking, datacenter, and colocation infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and maintain best practices and standards for IT infrastructure, including backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, patching, security, and compliance.
  • Develop and execute automation and infrastructure as code solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements and provide technical solutions and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues and incidents, and ensure root cause analysis and preventive actions are performed.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and trends, and provide feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Manage IT infrastructure projects and initiatives, and ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain IT infrastructure documentation, reports, and metrics

Skills You Will Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in Azure and AWS cloud platforms, including services, features, architectures, security, and best practices.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in virtualization, Active Directory, Windows servers, Linux/Unix servers, VMware, storage, SAN, fiber channel, networking, Dell Servers, datacenter, and colocation infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in automation and infrastructure as code tools and methodologies, such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure security, compliance, and governance, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Certifications in Azure, AWS, VMware, or other relevant technologies are preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in OpenShift, OpenStack, or other technologies, are a plus.
