The role of the pharmacy student is to aid the pharmacy in the production of prescriptions and provide optimal customer service. Participate actively in growing prescription and OTC sales.

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy student will assist with drug distribution tasks such as prescription data entry, packaging, counselling, and vaccinations. The student will also support health promotion clinics and medication reviews, and provide limited counselling on prescription and OTC products, all under direct pharmacist supervision.

What you'll do:

  • Answer and triage patient phone calls, directing them to appropriate products or services.

  • Collect patient information and accurately input prescriptions into the pharmacy system under pharmacist supervision.

  • Assist in filling prescriptions, including retrieving, counting, and labeling medications safely and securely.

  • Adhere to provincial regulations for pharmacy students and maintain patient confidentiality.

  • Provide courteous service at the pharmacy counter, including handling transactions and assisting with OTC product inquiries under supervision.

  • Help maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

  • Assist with stocking medications, supplies, and OTC products.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Enrolled in an approved Canadian Pharmacy program.

  • Licenses/Certifications: Registered with the respective College as a pharmacy student.

  • Experience: Community pharmacy experience preferred; familiarity with HealthWatch pharmacy software is an asset.

  • Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a team-oriented attitude.
