Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across teams to identify process bottlenecks and introduce solutions that streamline production and amplify impact.

  • Continuously assess industry best practices and competitor strategies to ensure our editorial tech remains ahead of the curve.

  • Lead ideation sessions and innovation workshops, empowering colleagues to contribute transformative ideas and drive continuous improvement.

Support the Newsroom

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a newsroom of approximately 30 journalists, ensuring their technological needs are met swiftly and effectively.

  • Facilitate ongoing training, onboarding, and upskilling in editorial tools and workflows to empower journalists to work efficiently and confidently.

  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, minimizing disruptions and maintaining momentum across all editorial projects.

  • Build strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, and SEO teams to anticipate newsroom requirements and deliver integrated, forward-thinking solutions.

  • Continuously seek feedback from newsroom staff to refine processes, drive adoption of new technologies, and enhance day-to-day operations.

Measure What Matters

  • Monitor trends and integrate them into your work.

  • Use analytics and AI to guide the roadmap.

  • Track KPIs: audience growth, engagement, content velocity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field.  The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Strong AI proficiency and curiosity about AI and its future.

  • Advanced feature writing and backlog management skills.

  • Advanced Proficiency with digital platforms, and publishing technology.

  • Lean/Agile mindset and continuous improvement focus.

  • Clear communicator with a bias for action.
