Day in the Life of a Certified Medical Assistant

  • Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, greeting patients, patient check-in and check-out, recording vital signs and patient medical record maintenance.

  • Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.

  • Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.

  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens

  • Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.

  • If Certified, performing phlebotomy, Preparing and administering medications, injections, vaccines for patients as directed by providers.

Education and Experience requirements

  • Must have certification from a medical assistant program or military medical corpsman program.

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical setting.

  • High school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent.

  • Understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
     

Hours and Schedule

  • Monday-Friday; 4:45am-12:45pm

  • Saturday; 6:15am-8:15am

  • Consistent schedule. Early in time and out time, no 12 hour shifts nor is there a 2nd or 3rd shift. You will also never be on call
